I think it’s so helpful to have a community of like-minded people. I have so few friends/relatives who are also child-free, but I’m so incredibly grateful for the ones I do have. It can be incredibly lonely when so much of our community-based support systems center around the idea of children/nuclear families being the default option. There is plenty of support and social networks out there for people with children, and almost nothing for those of us who want something different.

You’re not alone. You’re not “freakish.” You’re an adult making a valid choice based on what you know you do and do not want your life to look like. I’m sorry this has been a difficult journey for you, but please feel free to reach out to me or others on here who’ve written about this topic. I love connecting with other child-free people. There are a lot more of us out here than you’d think.
