Thank you for this take and for the very courageous act of actually attending one of these rallies. I honestly don’t know if I’d be able to do what you did and stay calm enough to make it out in one piece.

I read so many stories about how Trump supporters are just normal people, that they aren’t hateful, angry bigots, they just want their voices to be heard. I know from experience that that simply isn’t true. These are angry, hateful people. And if they happen to, in some ways, be otherwise decent people in their day to day lives, that doesn’t erase what they’re choosing to stand for. If anything, that makes them even more dangerous in my eyes.
