When I started lifting my weight stayed the same but I dropped 2 dress sizes. I’m currently a size 6 and “overweight” according to my BMI. At my last doctor’s visit, she noted that and laughed out loud before acknowledging that it truly didn’t matter and telling me to keep doing what I’m doing. While most doctors and patients are aware of the limitations of the BMI scale, I do wish that more doctors took a more holistic approach when counseling their patients on weight management and behavior modification.
